Absolutely the best video I've
seen for the basic beginning
sailor. The dvd explains with clarity
the theory of sailing as well as such
things as the fundamentals of raising
the sails. Best of all, the host explains
and demonstrates on a boat the size
many new sailors will use. If you
are going to buy a DVD, this is
the one I'd recommend most..
ONE DAY LESSON
A one day lesson is intended to give the
learner an introduction to sailing. The
lesson starts out with classroom
instruction lasting approximately an hour
that covers sailing theory, emergency
procedures and emergency
communication, Texas boat safety
requirements, and basic knots needed on
the boat and the dock. Next we cover
trailer basics, towing, and launching a
sailboat. Most of the lesson is dedicated
to SAILING. We raise the sails and
head out onto the lake.
TWO DAY LESSON
The second day of the sailing lesson
starts with a brief recap of what we did
on the first day of lesson and clarification
of learner questions. Then, WE SAIL!
It is intended that by the end of the
second day, the learner will feel
comfortable with launching and sailing a
trailerable sailboat, leaving a dock under
sail and returning to a dock under sail,
and navigating across the lake to specific
destinations. Although I recommend the
second day of instruction be the next
day, it is not required.
